4x4 Launches Online Blog
Who we are: 4x4 is a New York City based multi-service, boutique-style firm founded in 2008. We specialize in music management, social media promotions, marketing, branding, sponsorships, licensing and consulting.
What we do: 4x4 is a unique approach at developing a real artist career. We launch a special direct-to-fan relationship for the artist, by finding an audience whose taste in music matches the music of our artist. We have also built relationships & connections with media contacts, booking agencies, venue promoters, managers, sponsors, licensing agencies, radio promoters, music supervisors & producers, among others.
Who we have worked with: On the management side, we represent Mikey Wax. On the marketing side, we have worked with numerous talented artists, including reputable acts such as Aaron Carter & Nine Days, to up & coming independent artists all around the world.
About the founder: Jonathan Wax is 26 years old and based in New York City. He entered the music business in 2009 while a student at the University of Miami, to help develop the career of his brother, pop-rock artist Mikey Wax. With the music scene becoming an over-saturated market, he was forced to think out-of-the-box to build Mikey's career, and founded 4x4 Artist Management. With a humble yet persistent approach, the Wax brothers built a modest resume in the DIY scene - including a feature on the YouTube homepage, a weekly placement on the FOX hit show "So You Think You Can Dance", and several national tours - all which lead to Mikey signing a worldwide recording contract with Universal Music subsidiary label Toucan Cove in 2014. During this time, Wax also developed 4x4 marketing, a NYC based multi-service, boutique-style firm with a goal of working with up & coming artists to grow their social media fanbase and build direct-to-fan interaction.
Why work with us: Wax has a true passion for the music business that shows in just one conversation you have with him. He's honest, hardworking, and personable. You can reach him at 10 AM or 10 PM. He'll take your call. He gets the current music business, and wants to work with artists at all levels and of all genres.
A fun Q&A with Jonathan:
Favorite movie: That's a tie between Back To The Future & Bowfinger. Almost Famous is up there too, and I can never knock down Rocky 1-4 (pun intended)
Favorite artist: All depends on the day and mood. My iTunes is filled with hundreds of artists and bands, new and old. My vinyl record player gets some love too. I'm truly a fan of all genres and sounds. But if I was stuck on a deserted island and had to choose one artist's music to bring along, it's either Billy Joel or Phil Collins.
Do you play an instrument? I do. I started playing piano when I was 8, and took lessons for ten years. I never learned to read sheet music though, however I was born with perfect pitch. I picked up the drums a few years later, but I'm far from being great at it.
Favorite food? Pizza. Although if you want to treat me to a nice steak, I'm all for it.
